Abstract
How can data in the electronic health record(EHR) be used to guide more effective personalized care?
From the emerging world of “big biomedical data” comes a new era of personalized medicine that is transforming health care by analyzing, designing, implementing, and evaluating information systems that enhance individual and/or population health outcomes, improve patient care, and even strengthen the clinician-patient relationship.
Followings are several major subjects I will focus in my talk:
- Advanced intelligent and secured medical systems for smart healthcare
- Computational intelligence and big biodata in smart healthcare
- Deep learning, deep reinforcement learning, and lifelong learning for smart healthcare
The field of Computational Smart Healthcare enables personalized medicine at the interface of biomedical signal processing, computational modeling, machine learning, and health informatics – all exploiting EHR data, physiological time-series data, genomics data, etc.
Today, instead of relying on a few case studies, clinicians can capitalize on the wealth of patient data available in the EHR to construct detailed mechanistic and statistical models of disease. These models will provide accurate predictions on the health status of patients and will guide decisions regarding their care. The result of smart healthcare – more positive health outcomes, fewer medical errors, reduced costs, and patient care that is safe, efficient, effective, timely, and patient-centered.
